Area Description
Banwell, a fairly newer community in Windsor, Ontario, began construction in 1995. Its boundaries include Little River to the west, Riverside Drive East to the north, the town of Tecumseh, Ontario's limits to the east, and Tecumseh Road to the south.
Data from Canada’s 2006 Census suggests that Windsor’s population grew by 3.5 percent between 2001 and 2006 from 209,218 to 216,473. Currently, the City’s Official Plan (2007) projects a 2021 population of approximately 244,811. It is expected that over the next twenty years, Windsor’s share of the population will stabilize and the surrounding area municipalities will embrace significant growth. This is especially true for the Town of Tecumseh, LaSalle, and Lakeshore. (Banwell Rd. Environmental Study Report Sept. 20, 2016).
This progressive neighborhood has been designated as a Class II Arterial Road that is looking to always increase public transportation use, cycling, and walking. Amenities continue to grow around the neighborhood as it continues to drive homebuyers. That drive has brought new business interests as well.
